Park Clean Up Day

Our first clean up day in the park will be Saturday, May 10th at 8am. We'll be picking up sticks and trash, pulling weeds, laying mulch, and maybe some planting and/or splitting of plants.

Volunteers of all ages welcome. Bring your gloves, rakes, shovels, and pitchforks. We will provide some breakfast and lunch for our volunteers.

Our raindate will be Saturday, May 17th at 8am. And thank you for your help!

It could be such a lovely area, but it is all weeds. Does that area not qualify for any funds from the city or state so the weeds can be killed off and it can be slip-seeded? The benches are in horrible shape and need repaired as well. What can be done? Shari

Shari, thanks for expressing your concerns. In terms of funding, unfortunately the park's funds are extremely tight and money's for weed killing, slip seeding, etc. are pretty non-existant.

We are attempting to raise funds for a host of improvements, including replacing dead plants in the landscape beds, repairing park benches, and replacing the large yews so that the fountain can be seen, both for the pleasure of seeing the fountain and to improve security and reduce graffitti.

Comments like these are always helpful and I am glad to see that our neighbors agree with us!
